Emerging as one of the best young arms in the Midwest, Westphal separates himself as a high end strike thrower with a college ready slider. Most recently, Westphal cruised through an two innings of work at this year's Future Games.
‘25 RHP Grady Westphal (KS) continuing a strong summer.
85-87+ w/ big spin metrics on both FB/SL (2400+/2700+).
As physical a player as you will find in the class across the country, Pomeroy put his strength on display at this year's Future Games by posting an 99 mph exit velo in BP and the hitting three balls at 96+ exit velos.
Long and athletic, Sims is already shows some impressive numbers and a polished skill set. Sims hit in the middle of the order for a talented SME squad this spring and played up this summer for BC. Expect to see big results when he starts facing competition his own age.
2025 INF Colton Sims (Shawnee Mission East) was on time and found two loud barrels in this one.
As with every season that goes by, many players take major leaps physically and developmentally. Below are some of the biggest risers since our latest rankings.
Physically impressive at 6-4 195, Bettis is one of those rare young arm that shows not only a big arm but feel for the strike zone as well. The big right-hander had a few impressive outings at Creekside this summer.
2025 RHP Sam Bettis (Washburn Rural HS, KS) with the 9-strikeout no-hitter for @BCBaseballtoday. Attacked with a fastball up to 87 while showing feel for big breaking ball to finish hitters off.#KCPI@PBRKansaspic.twitter.com/zj0fzREVF3
Like his twin brother, Max see his name shoot up our rankings as his arm strength continues to rise. At 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, already showing body control, and big arm strength from the OF, there is much more velo to come soon for Max.
Westin BoyleSS / RHP / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2025
RankingsStateRank: 11 / POS: 2
It is all about the defense and projection for Boyle. As sure handed as SS as can be found in the KS class, shows the skill to stick there long term and at the next level. Offensively, expect to see Boyle to really come into his own with the addition of some strength.
2025 SS Westin Boyle (St. Thomas Aquinas, KS) with an RBI single for @BCbaseballtoday
This summer, we found a couple of difference makers who earned their way into our rankings. All three of the prospects below enter the rankings in the top 10.
Max HustonSS / RHP / Seaman , KS / 2025
RankingsStateRank: 5 / POS: 1
A true two-way prospect, Huston proved he is as dynamic of a player as there is in the class this Spring and Summer. Defensively, he looks just as at home patrolling center field with high end speed as he is at shortstop with clean action and a big arm across the diamond. On the mound, Huston uses his athleticism to pound the zone with a mid to upper 80s fastball.
‘25 SS @MaxHuston4 (KS) exploded on the national scene at the #NPI2022 with a breakout performance for @RoyalsScoutTeam going 7-for-9, with 6 extra base hits including a ? on Day 1. @PBRKansas
At 6-foot-2, 175 with a long, loose, and fast arm, Schlote shows all of the sings of a future power arm. Up to 87 at the MOKAN Summer Underclass Games already this summer, there is a strong chance the right-hander is right around the corner from low 90s and beyond. Shows tools on the offensive side of the ball as well.
Yet another long, clean, and athletic strike thrower in this class, Miller might have the highest celling of the group. Miller has dominated the strike zone and hitters each and every time we have seen his this summer and his velo continues to tick up. The 6-foot-5, 185-pound prospect will be an exciting follow.
